History of Peanuts and its characters
The predecessor of Peanuts is a comic that Charles created for the local newspaper, named Li'l Folks, which was created after he came back from World War 2, on June the 22nd, 1947. It ran in the St. Paul Pioneer Press until January 22nd, 1950.
The United Feature Syndicate noticed Schulz's comics and bought it but they had to re-name it because there was already another comic named Little Folks by Tack Knight. So they made up their minds and changed the name to Peanuts. Charles never liked the name though.
The first Peanuts comic strip was published on October the 2nd, 1950, in 7 different newspapers! It became a popular comic strip and was soon to become one of the worlds greatest comics, that touched people's heart as well as making them laugh!
